135 Years in the USA 1891-2026
June 13, 2026 the Little Sisters of the Assumption celebrated 135 years in the United States. Founded in 1865 Paris, France by an Assumptionist priest, Stephen Pernet and Antoinette Fage who later became Mother Mary of Jesus, the USA was the first foundation outside of Europe.
Initially settling on the lower East side of New York and later expanded their mission to other areas, the Sisters focused on the well-being of families living in poverty by providing home nursing care in a wholistic approach.
