The Little Sisters of the Asumption: 25 years of presence in Madagascar
Hello to each of you,
Here is a small echo of our celebration for those of you who have passed through Fianarantsoa at one time or another during these past 25 years of our presence in Madagascar
As you know, the time before the feast is as important as the feast itself: it is not only the time of material preparation but also a time of preparation of our hearts and of building life together. It is the time when we experience the richness of the bonds created and receive as a gift all the gestures of mutual aid and solidarity.
The Religious of the Assumption and the Augustinians of the Assumption, shared this time with all of us: giving the kitay, buying the beef, cooking, serving, bringing bouquets of flowers for the celebration, liturgy…. The friends brought us their biggest pots. The parish priest helped us with simplicity by putting at our disposal the land and the material we needed.
We wanted to celebrate with all the families of the children who come to us for school support, the nutritional follow-up group, the Fraternity, the Kintana group, those we accompanied and helped to realise the vision of their project, and all the collaborators in the different activities in Sahalava and in the dispensary of Ampopoka.
On Sunday afternoon, 12th of September, we invited the members of the Fraternities, the Kintana group, and all the people who have collaborated with us over the years. Silvaneide and Charline made a video about our history and inserted the testimonies. Then we heard the testimonies of the “beginners on the spot”: Mrs M.louise, Mrs Jacqueline, and myself. On Sunday 19, a great “gathering of the scattered children of God”! A festive Eucharist presided over by Fr. Etienne (provincial of the A.A.) with, of course, the traditional dances at the time of the Voninahitra, the personal voice, the offertory and the thanksgiving
.Some priests close to us were also present: Albert (Camilien), François (Salesian of Don Bosco) and François (OMI parish priest).
No celebration can happen, without killing an ox and without a giant cake!
Everyone settled on mats and we shared the meal to the sound of music, and a song composed by Charline to commemorate the 25 years.
All those smiling faces in the photo say “veloma” and thank you for the life shared!
