From New York to Paris – our shared roots
Jonah and his family (his wife and three children) moved to the parent company in July. He is the director of a LSA agency in the USA. Bernie and Nathalie met him during their visit to the USA.
Here’s what he had to say about his visit to Grenelle:
Hello! I wanted to share a couple of pictures with you and some words I sent to our Board of Directors. I have so much enjoyed our exchanges this year
This Spring Ted and many staff here welcomed our visitors from Paris – Sister Nathalie, the International Leader of Little Sisters of the Assumption, and Sister Bernie – along with Sister Margaret, Sister Annette, Sister Deisy and many others. Last week I returned the visit, visiting Sister Agnes and Sister Micaela at the LSA international headquarters in Paris, the center where the movement to put Sisters in service in homes and communities began in 1865 by Father Etienne Pernet and Sister Antonette Fage. You see Sisters Agnes and Micaela in the photo below in front of a monument to Father Pernet.
It was an inspiring way to end my family vacation (a fortunate coincidence). Just a block from where I was staying, I walked into a special place.
The center serves primarily to care for frail older adults sisters and laity. They brought me to the crypt of the LSA founders inside the chapel.
They shared with me stories similar to our own work: how LSA centers in Paris are helping migrant families struggling with the same things East Harlem families struggle with.
They spoke fondly of Sister Susanne and all of the Sisters who are part of our family. We stand on the shoulders of those who have come before us and hand in hand with a circle of friends.
Thanks for being part of that supportive community!
Jonah
